The Talk

“Moving through life is how you think when you move through life. There is no course connected to this. There is no book connected to this. I'm here to make people think of how they move through life.”

Michele Hart

Moving Through Life is a 45-minute lecture-demonstration I bring to your office, studio, or group. I'm Michele Hart, dancer and actress, and I've been teaching adults for more than twenty-five years.

Along the way I figured out that most of what I was telling dancers applied to everyone else too: how they stand, how they sit, how they reach across a desk without thinking.

I'm not going to ask you to get on the floor. I'm not going to tell you to join a gym or take a walk. You already know that. What I'll do is show you the small, specific things you're doing every day. Twisting one knee in the kitchen. Curling your hands over a keyboard. Never quite standing all the way up when you stand up. Then I give you the fix for each one. Head to toe, in order, with reasons attached.

See It

A few minutes with Michele, in her own words.

“We are designed to be in movement. We're not designed to be in a box.”

Who Benefits

Anywhere there's a group of people who spend most of the day in chairs, on their feet, or in front of a mirror.

Offices & Lunch-and-Learns

For companies that want to give their team something better than another wellness email. I come in during lunch, speak for forty-five minutes, take questions, and leave everyone a little more aware of what their desk is doing to them. No mats, no changing clothes, nobody asked to exercise in front of a coworker.

Acting Schools, Agents & Movement Classes

For acting schools, actors' agents, and movement classes that want a guest session on placement, symmetry, and the things that catch up to all of us. I speak the language and I know the injuries. I've been fixing them in dancers for a quarter century.

Charitable & Community Groups

For volunteer and charitable organizations, senior centers, and religious groups. These are the talks I care about most. I offer greatly reduced rates for charitable groups, and for the right cause I'll come for free. Ask.

Experience

One visit. Forty-five minutes. Everyone stays in their chair unless they want to stand.

45 Minutes

A complete head-to-toe presentation followed by a full Q&A session. Delivered on-site anywhere in Southern California.

No Sweat

You sit. You watch. I demonstrate. No participation required, though most people can't help trying a stretch from their seat.

Tailored to You

Office workers, drivers, pianists, retirees. Tell me who's in the room and I'll fully tailor the experience for them.

Specific Fixes

Actionable solutions for specific problems: shoulders around your ears, tingling wrists, or mysterious knee aches.

Plain English

No jargon. No woo-woo. Just simple, mechanical truths about movement and posture, using no props beyond my own two feet and a straight chair.

One Visit

This isn't an ongoing subscription or a twelve-week course. It's a single seed planted in the mind that grows in the body.

Meet Michele

Michele Hart mid-leap, jazz dance.

Michele Hart has been dancing for fifty years, teaching adults for more than twenty-five. She is an actress and a dancer. Along the way she realized that almost everything she was telling dancers applied just as well to people who had never set foot in a studio.

“I am the person you go to when the balance doesn't hold, when the turns don't work, when the jump is not landing the way it's supposed to. I'm a fixer.”

Michele Hart

Posture, symmetry, the way a foot strikes the ground, the way a wrist curls over a keyboard. The rules didn't change, only the audience did. Moving Through Life grew out of that realization.

Today she brings those twenty-five years into offices, studios, and community rooms across Southern California as a 45-minute lecture-demonstration. She stands all the way up, and is still, by her own account, a champion sloucher who knows exactly when to stop slouching.

Interview

Michele sits down for a longer conversation about posture, movement, and the habits that shape how your body feels over a lifetime.
